From July 12th to 14th the ADAC Truck Grand Prix 2013 took place at Germany’s well-known race track Nürburgring. Swedish world record holding truck racer Boije Ovebrink was part of the show programme and once again demonstrated his skills by winning an acceleration race between his hybrid truck ‘Mean Green’ and a Porsche sports car.

At the three-day event, which is the most important truck racing event in Germany, visitors of the Volvo Trucks stand had the chance to see the new FH model range, test the cabs and talk to experts about products and services. Overall, some 700 customers and guests visited the Volvo Trucks stand and showed special interest the new FH and FH16.

At the Merchandise shop all kinds of products were available for purchase, with the bestselling items being miniature models of the new FH and FH 16.

One highlight of the event was the appearance of Boije Ovebrink and his Volvo hybrid truck ‘Mean Green’ which attracted a lot of attention with a whopping 2,100hp and 7,000Nm of torque.

On Saturday he joined the US Truck Convoy and even though there were many interesting looking trucks, the ‘Mean Green’ with its special design and bright colour was definitely the most attractive one of them all.

On Sunday afternoon, Ovebrink held an autograph session and later on took the challenge of a 350 metres acceleration race against a 330hp Porsche Cayman R – and won ! Although it started off as a neck-and-neck race, Ovebrink finally managed to cross the finishing line first after exactly 12 seconds and at a speed of 180kph (112 mph).

“The start was a bit slow, but after I changed to 8th gear I knew I would win,” said Ovebrink after the competition. “Winning this race in front of all my friends and fans at Nürburgring was just perfect.”
