Toyota Auris Hybrid Chosen as Fleet Vehicle for Toshiba Tec

Toshiba Tec has chosen the Toyota Auris Hybrid Touring Sports as the ideal fleet vehicle for its UK engineers.

The company, part of the global Toshiba Corporation, has switched to Toyota with an initial order for 28 vehicles to create a solus fleet. Based in Chertsey, Surrey, the business provides technical support for Toshiba Tec’s computerised point-of-sale and retail information systems and barcode printers.

Brian Goddard, Toshiba Tec Fleet and Facilities Co-ordinator, said,

“We wanted to secure the most modern and economical solution, a vehicle that has strong environmental qualities that supports our drive to reduce our carbon emissions, but which equally can provide our engineers with reliable transport and the space they need for their equipment.”

The British-built Auris Hybrid Touring Sports certainly offers plenty of load space that is practical to use and easy to access. With the rear seats in place it provides 530 litres of space, but this can be extended to 1,658 litres using the one-touch Easy Flat system to fold the seats down.

In terms of efficiency, the 1.8-litre full hybrid petrol-electric system has official combined cycle fuel economy of 76.3mpg and 85g/km CO2 emissions, when combined with 15-inch wheels. Toshiba Tec’s teams can expect to travel in comfort, too, thanks to the signature quiet and smooth performance of the hybrid system, seamless E-CVT transmission and automatic air conditioning.

Toshiba Tec’s vehicles are being provided by Toyota Fleet Services through the Currie Motors Toyota Centre in Twickenham.
